LITTLE ROCK - May 4/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices steady. Parboiled, Second heads and Brewers rice prices steady. Rice by-products: rice bran, millfeed and ground hulls prices steady. According to NASS as of May 3, new crop planting progress is as follows LA 88%, TX 65%, MS 66% and AR 64% with all states, except MS, were below the average. New crop emerged is as follows LA 80%, TX 63%, MS 37% and AR 33% with all states below the average. In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady. Second heads and Brewers rice prices steady. Rice by-products: rice bran prices steady; ground hull prices not fully established. Rice mills continue steady operations however they must ration available patty rice so the inventory will take them into new crop harvest. Drought conditions still exist with water restrictions in place throughout the state. According to NASS as of May 3, California shows 38% planted which is above the average and 15 % emerged which is also above the average. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday May 1th, May 15 closed .08 lower at 9.95; Jly 15 closed .09 lower at 10.205; Sep 15 closed .09 lower at 10.475. US dollar index on Friday settled at 95.21.
