MELBOURNE - May 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge over eastern Victoria will move away to the east during today as a cold front approaches the western border this evening. The front will move rapidly across the State overnight and early Tuesday as an associated deep low pressure system passes south of Tasmania. Further cold fronts will move across Bass Strait and Tasmania during Wednesday and Thursday, maintaining a vigorous westerly airflow across southern Victoria. Forecast for the rest of MondayMorning fog patches. A generally dry, mild and sunny day with northerly winds freshening over western and central districts. Scattered showers reaching the far southwest early evening and extending to remaining western and central areas at night.Tuesday 5 MayScattered showers, more frequent over the southwest and northeast, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Local hail and thunder in the south. A cool to cold day with strong and squally west to northwesterly winds extending to most areas.Wednesday 6 MayScattered showers on and south or the ranges, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Chance of a shower about the northern plains. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong at times about the coast.Thursday 7 MayIsolated showers on and south or the ranges, more frequent near the coast and about the eastern ranges and falling as snow above 1400 metres. Chance of a shower about the northern plains.
