LITTLE ROCK - Apr 20/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long grain milled rice prices steady to weak. Medium grain milled rice prices fully steady. Parboiled, Second heads and Brewers rice prices steady to weak. Rice by-products: rice bran, millfeed and ground hulls prices steady to weak. As of April 19, new crop planting progress is as follows LA 79%, TX 61%, MS 38% and AR 28%. LA and MS are on par with average however TX and AR below par planting percentages. In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady. Second heads and Brewers rice steady to weak. Rice by-products: rice bran prices steady; rice hull prices not full established. Drought conditions still exist throughout the state. As of April 19, California shows 3% planted which is 1% below the average. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Apr 17th, May 15 closed .06 lower at 9.905; Jly 15 closed .05 lower at 10.16; Sep 15 closed .045 lower at 10.42. US dollar index on Friday settled at 97.52.
