U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Apr 6/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices remain steady.  Parboiled,
Second heads and Brewers steady to weak.  Rice by-products:  rice bran, millfeed, and
ground rice hulls steady to weak.  Majority of mills will continue their steady
operations thru April and then reevaluate their operation needs.  New crop planting
is going slow due to wet field conditions.  Louisiana planting seems to be
progressing closer to average with other southern states close behind.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Second heads and Brewers
rice steady to weak.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices steady; rice hull prices
not full established.  Field prep and planting occurring earlier than normal this
year as many famers have already started the process.  Drought conditions still exist
throughout the state.  2015 urban water restrictions will be implemented.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Monday Apr 6th, May 15 closed .04 lower at 10.825;
Jly 15 closed .045 lower at 11.05; Sep 15 closed .025 lower at 11.21.  US dollar
index on Friday settled at 96.74.
