MELBOURNE - Mar 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system will develop south of Tasmania overnight as a cold front moves across Tasmania. The low will deepen on Friday as it moves over the Tasman Sea. The next high pressure system will remain well to the west of Victoria for the time being, allowing further cold fronts to cross Tasmania and Bass Strait on Saturday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers about the coast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Moderate southwesterly winds, fresh to strong at times near the coast.Friday 6 MarchCloudy in the south with isolated showers, tending scattered near the coast and West Gippsland. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong at first near the coast.Fire Danger - High in the northwest. Low to moderate elsewhere.Saturday 7 MarchMostly cloudy with isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Fine in the north. Cool to mild with moderate westerly winds, fresh at times in the south.Sunday 8 MarchFine and mostly sunny apart from isolated showers possible about the southwest and central coasts. A mild to warm day with light westerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Monday 9 MarchIsolated showers developing over southern and mountain districts. Remaining dry and mostly sunny in the north.
