MELBOURNE - Mar 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front south of the Bight will enter southwestern Victoria tonight then sweep across the rest of the State early Thursday morning, as an associated deep low passes well south of Tasmania. The next high pressure system will remain well to the west of Victoria for the time being, as further cold fronts will cross Tasmania late Thursday and during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the southwest coast becoming more extensive during the evening and extending into central districts later at night. Remaining clear in the north and east. Moderate westerly winds strengthening near the coast with a gusty west to southwesterly change extending eastwards overnight.Thursday 5 MarchScattered showers on and south of the ranges, contracting eastwards and generally clearing by the afternoon, only isolated showers remaining about the exposed coast during the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool with fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Fire Danger - High, reaching very high in the northwest.Friday 6 MarchIsolated showers in the south, tending scattered near the coast and west Gippsland. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong at first near the coast.Saturday 7 MarchIsolated showers near the coast, mainly in the southwest. Fine and mainly sunny in the north.
