Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 28/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards northeastern New South Wales, while a trough and associated cold front move across the state's south and west. This system will extend to central districts in the afternoon and the northeast overnight. Behind this, a new high is expected to shift from the Bight to the Tasman Sea at the start of the week and should maintain a ridge along the coast while an inland trough deepens. The next significant southerly change is likely to arrive during the second half of the week.
Forecast for the rest of SundayA morning shower or two over the southern inland, mainly near the Victorian border, and along the southern coast. Showers and thunderstorms likely about central parts of the coast, the central and northern ranges and the northwest slopes, mainly afternoon or evening. The chance of showers or thunderstorm about the northern coast. Fine through most of the central and northwest. Hot across the northern inland. Northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change extending from the southwest, fresh to strong in many areas.Fire Danger -  Very High: Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Upper Central West Plains, Lower Central West Plains and Southern Slopes Fire Areas.Monday 2 MarchA shower or two about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, chiefly near the coastal fringe. The chance of an early shower or two about the central coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere, although cloud increasing in the south later. South to southeasterly winds extending throughout, gradually tending northeasterly across much of the inland.Tuesday 3 MarchA shower or two about the southern and central coasts and eastern ranges, and possibly on the northern coast and parts of the western slopes. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwesterly winds in the west, north to northeasterly elsewhere, although becoming southerly in the southeast corner during the afternoon.Wednesday 4 MarchA shower or two near the coast, more likely in the north, possibly extending to eastern parts of the ranges. Fine and mostly sunny west of the divide. South to southwesterly winds inland, and southeast to northeasterly on the coast and ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
