MELBOURNE - Feb 28/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over western Victoria will reach central areas later this evening and then clear eastern areas of the State early Sunday morning. A high pressure ridge will extend across southern Victoria later Sunday and early Monday. Another cold front will move across southern Victoria Monday night followed by a stronger front on Wednesday, while a new high will build over the Bight and extend a ridge to western Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and possible thunderstorms developing with a cooler gusty southwesterly change in the southwest and extending across northern and central areas during the evening. Showers increasing to rain over west Gippsland and possible raised dust in the northwest with the change. Warm and cloudy with isolated showers in the east ahead of the change.Sunday 1 MarchScattered showers and possible thunderstorms in the north and east, contracting further east and clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers over remaining southern districts clearing by the afternoon. Cool in the south, mild to warm in the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Generally high.Monday 2 MarchEarly fog patches inland then a fine, mainly sunny day although cloud developing in the west during the afternoon. Mild to warm day with light winds inland and moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 3 MarchPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, mainly near the coast. Fine and sunny in the north. A cool to mild day with moderate southerly winds.Wednesday 4 MarchPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, more frequent near the coast. Fine and sunny in the north.
