Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 28/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lies over northwestern New South Wales as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will cross the state during Sunday and a weak high pressure ridge will develop in its wake. On Tuesday another trough is expected to extend across the state.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdaySlight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Slight chance of showers in the far southwest near the Victorian border this evening. Fine and mostly clear in the remainder. Hot in the west. North to northeasterly winds, turning southwesterly in the west late.Sunday 1 MarchSlight to medium chance of showers in the southwest, increasing to high chance from the slopes through to the coast. Thunderstorms likely in a band from the central coast and ranges to the northeast of the Upper Western district, and possibly on the southern ranges and in the northeast. Hot in the far northwest. Northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a southwesterly change extending from the southwest during the day.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Upper Central West Plains, Lower Central West Plains and Southern Slopes Fire Areas.Monday 2 MarchSlight to medium chance of showers east of the Divide apart from the south coast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere, with cloud increasing in the south later. South to southwest winds extending north over the state, before gradually tending southeast to northeast in the evening and becoming light and variable over the far west.Tuesday 3 MarchMedium chance of showers on the south and central coasts and eastern ranges, decreasing to slight to chance further west and north. Fine and mostly sunny in the western inland. South to southwest winds in the west, north to northeast elsewhere, becoming southerly over the far southeast corner during the afternoon.Wednesday 4 MarchMedium to high chance of coastal showers, decreasing to a slight chance on the ranges. Fine and mostly sunny west of the divide. South to southwesterly winds inland, southeast to northeasterly on the coast and ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
