MELBOURNE - Feb 27/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A surface trough extends from the northwest of the state to the southeast interior and will remain in the same general area over the next few days. A mid level high over Central Australia will maintain hot temperatures across the southern interior well into next week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA medium chance of showers and storms over the eastern tropics, and also in a broad band from the northwest district to the state's southeast interior. A slight to moderate chance of showers about the state's southeast. Mostly fine about the reminder of the east coast, though there is the chance of some showers late in the day. Fine and hot over the the southern interior. Moderate to fresh southwest to southwest winds through the southern interior. Light winds elsewhere.Sunday 1 MarchA medium chance of showers and storms in a broad band from the Gulf of Carpentaria coast, across the central interior and down to the southeast interior. Fine and mostly sunny about the far east of the state, and also over the Channel Country. Hot over the state's southwest.Monday 2 MarchA medium chance of showers and storms over the northern and eastern districts along a surface trough in a broad band from the Gulf Country down through the central interior and into the southeast interior. Mostly fine about the east coast, with just the chance of some mainly light showers. Fine and very hot over the southwest of the state.Tuesday 3 MarchA medium chance of showers and storms over the northern tropics and northwest. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state. Very hot over the southwest of the state.Wednesday until FridayA weak high over the Tasman Sea should push the surface trough and associated showers and storms into Queensland's interior. Showers and storms are also likely to persist over the northern tropics.
