MELBOURNE - Feb 27/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located near New Zealand. A cold front will cross waters south of the Bight to reach western Victoria this afternoon and push eastwards to clear eastern areas of the State by early Sunday. A high pressure ridge will extend across southern Victoria from Sunday through until Tuesday. Another cold front will move rapidly across Bight waters on Monday, crossing Tasmania late in the day. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA warm to hot and partly cloudy day with north to northwesterly winds freshening ahead of a cooler gusty southwesterly change reaching the west in the early afternoon and extending across central areas during the evening. Isolated showers and the slight chance of thunderstorms developing mainly over the west behind the change, extending into central districts during the evening with showers increasing overnight. Possible raised dust in the northwest with the change.Fire Danger - Severe in the northwest. High to Very High elsewhere.Sunday 1 MarchScattered showers contracting to the east during the early morning and clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers over remaining southern districts clearing by the afternoon. Cool in the south, mild to warm in the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 2 MarchEarly fog patches inland then a fine, mainly sunny day. Mild to warm day with light winds inland and moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 3 MarchPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers possible near the coast. Fine and sunny in the north.
