MELBOURNE - Feb 26/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A surface trough extends from the northwest of the state down to the southeast interior, and will remain in the same general area over the next few days. An upper level trough will move across the southeast during tomorrow, helping showers and storms to become more widespread over the region. A mid level high over Central Australia will maintain hot temperatures across the southern interior well into next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA high chance of showers and storms over the Peninsula district. A medium chance of showers and storms in a broad band from the northwest of the state down to the southern interior. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Hot over the southern interior. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds across most of the state. Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds over the Channel Country and the Warrego.Friday 27 FebruaryA high chance of showers and storms over the northern reaches of the Peninsula district. A broad band of showers and storms stretching from the Gulf Country down to the state's southeast. Mostly fine about much of the east coast with only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms reaching the coast late in the day. Hot and fine in the southern interior and southwest of the state.Fire Danger - Very high over the Warrego district.Saturday 28 FebruaryA medium chance of showers and storms over the eastern tropics, and also near a surface trough in a broad band from the northwest district down to the state's southeast. Mostly fine about the east coast, though there is the chance of some showers and storms moving across from inland late in the day. Fine and hot over the southern interior.Sunday 1 MarchThe medium chance of showers and storms over most of the state to the east of a broad surface trough. Just the slight chance of some showers and storms over the far eastern parts of the state. Fine and hot still over the state's southwest.Monday 2 MarchA mainly medium chance of showers and storms in over the northern and eastern districts, as a surface trough remains over the interior. Fine and very hot over the southern interior.Tuesday until ThursdayA weak high over the Tasman Sea should push the surface trough and associated showers and storms into Queensland's interior from Tuesday.
