Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An upper level trough will move north through the tropics today and Thursday. A surface trough will persist over the interior.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayA high chance of showers and storms over the northern tropics. The mainly moderate chance of showers and storms in a broad band from the northwest of the state down to the southern interior. Light to moderate northwest to northeasterly winds in the northern tropics. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Thursday 26 FebruaryA high chance of showers and storms over the far northern tropics. A mainly moderate chance of showers and storms in a broad band from the northwest of the state down to the southeast interior. Fine and clear elsewhere. Hot over the southern interior. Light winds across most of the state, and mainly moderate south to southwest winds over the Channel Country.Fire Danger -  Very high over the Warrego region.Friday 27 FebruaryA high chance of showers and storms over the northern reaches of the Peninsula district as the upper trough moves over the region. A broad band of showers and storms along a surface trough stretching from the Gulf Country down to the state's southeast. Hot and fine in the southern interior.Saturday 28 FebruaryThe mainly medium chance of showers and storms over the eastern tropics, and also near a surface trough in a broad band from the northwest district down to the state's southeast. Mainly fine close to the east coast, though there is the chance of some showers and storms moving across from inland late in the day. Fine and hot over the southern interior.Sunday 1 MarchThe medium chance of showers and storms across most of the state over most of the state to the east of a broad surface trough. Just the slight chance of some showers and storms over the far eastern parts of the state, and fine and hot still over the state's southwest.Monday until WednesdayShowers and storms persisting over the eastern and northern districts early in the working week. A weak high over the Tasman Sea should push the surface trough and associated showers and storms into Queensland's interior from Tuesday. Very hot in the southern interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDQ10700
