MELBOURNE - Feb 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will linger over northern Victoria today before moving away on Thursday. A high pressure system is moving over the southern Tasman Sea. A weak cold front is expected to cross Tasmania on Thursday then another high pressure centre will move from Bight waters to cross Tasmania on Friday then move over the Tasman Sea on Saturday. A low pressure trough is expected to cross South Australia to reach western Victoria early on Saturday afternoon and push eastwards across the remainder of the State late in the afternoon and Saturday night. A high pressure ridge will extend across southern Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in the east clearing in the evening. South to southeasterly winds easing.Thursday 26 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south, isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Mild and partly cloudy in the south but warm in the north. Light to moderate west to southwest wind tending southerly.Fire Danger - Generally high.Friday 27 FebruaryFine apart from the chance of light showers in the south. A warm day inland but mild in the south with light southerly winds and afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 28 FebruaryA very warm to hot and mostly sunny day with north to northwesterly winds freshening ahead of a cooler gusty southwesterly change reaching the west in the early afternoon and extending across central areas late in the day to reach the east at night. Scattered showers developing near and behind the change, mainly on and south of the dividing range.Sunday 1 MarchScattered showers contracting eastwards and becoming isolated in the south and clearing later.
