MELBOURNE - Feb 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies over inland New South Wales. A high pressure system lies to the south near Tasmania. A weakening trough extends from central parts of the coast towards New Zealand. This trough will weaken further over the next few days, and the high pressure system will move over the Tasman Sea ahead of an approaching front expected to move across New South Wales over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdaySlight to medium chance of showers from the slopes and plains through to the coast, increasing to a high chance of showers in the northern coast. The chance of thunderstorms from the slopes and plains through to the coast. Fine and generally sunny in the far west. Southwesterly winds in the west. East to southeasterly winds in the east, tending mostly light and variable inland.Thursday 26 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the northeast, more increasing to a high chance on the tablelands and central west slopes. Slight to medium chance of showers about the southern and central coasts. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the east and northern inland, more likely about the central ranges and slopes. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Hot in the far northwest. Northwest to southwesterly winds in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast.Fire Danger - Very High: North Western and Upper Central West Plains.Friday 27 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the northeast, more likely on the tablelands.
