MELBOURNE - Feb 24/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high south of the Bight will move east to be over the southern Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A trough of low pressure will develop near the western border on Friday, move across western parts of the State on Saturday morning then extend to remaining parts on Saturday and Sunday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from areas of cloud and the slight chance of patchy rain with possible thunder in the far northwest, clearing later this evening. Mild about the coasts grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds and fresh to strong southerly coastal sea breezes.Wednesday 25 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny. Mild to warm about the coasts, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Thursday 26 FebruaryFine apart from the slight chance of showers developing over the far west of the Northwest Pastoral and West Coast districts. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 27 FebruarySlight chance of showers and possible thunderstorms west of about Ceduna, with possible showers extending to the south of Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East. Fine elsewhere. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds and coastal sea breezes.Saturday 28 February Areas of cloud and the slight chance of thundery showers extending to districts southwest of Coober Pedy to Lameroo. Hot to very hot in the north and east, ahead of a cooler southerly change in the west, extending northeast to reach a line Broken Hill to Oodnadatta Saturday evening. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Saturday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, possibly reaching 2 to 5 mm with rain in the northwest and with thunderstorms. Sunday until TuesdayAreas of cloud and chance of showers contracting north and clearing during the Sunday. Chance of showers about southern and gulf coasts on Sunday morning. Showers developing west of about Port Lincoln on Monday and Tuesday, more likely in the far west. Cool to mild in the south, warm to hot in the north.
