Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 23/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough will linger near northeastern Victoria during today and Wednesday before moving away on Thursday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight will drift eastwards to pass to the south of Tasmania later today before reaching the Tasman Sea by Wednesday. A weak cold front is expected to cross Tasmania on Thursday then another high pressure centre will move from Bight waters towards Tasmania on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers in the southeast, extending westwards along the coast to the Otway ranges during the evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast. Cool in the south and warm in the north with a moderate to fresh and gusty south to southeasterly wind.Fire Danger -  Generally High, reaching Very High in the northwest.Wednesday 25 FebruaryScattered showers in the east and near the coast contracting eastwards during the day. The chance of a thunderstorms about the northeast ranges. Mild in the south and warm in the north with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 26 FebruarySlight chance of a shower over southern and eastern districts but mostly dry. Mild and partly cloudy in the south but warm in the north. Light to moderate west to southwest wind tending southerly.Friday 27 FebruaryFine apart from the chance of light showers in the west. A warm to very warm day with generally light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
