MELBOURNE - Feb 23/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge toward southeast New South Wales, while a low off the southern Queensland coast is moving northeast. A trough and associated cold front bringing unsettled conditions to southwestern New South Wales yesterday will shift to southeastern and central districts during today before stalling and weakening. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayShowers in the southeast and along the northern coast, extending to central parts of the coast during the afternoon, as well as central inland districts. The chance of thunderstorms about the ranges, central parts of the coast, and the central and southwest slopes, extending to the northwest inland. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west and southwest. Hot across the northern inland. South to southeasterly winds, fresh at times in the south and west.Fire Danger - Very High: North Western Fire Area.Wednesday 25 FebruaryThe chance of showers from the slopes and plains through to the coast, most likely in the southeast. Fine and generally sunny in the west. Hot across the northern inland. Southwesterly winds in the west. East to southeasterly winds in the east, tending mostly light and variable inland.Thursday 26 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers from the slopes to the coast, grading to a high chance on the eastern side of the northern ranges.
