U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Feb 23/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices steady to weak.  Parboiled,
Second heads and Brewers selling mostly steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran,
millfeed and ground hulls trading mostly steady.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady to 1.00 lower.  Second heads
trading 1.00 to 3.00 lower; Brewers 1.00 lower.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices
5.00 to 15.00 lower on limited sales.  Rice hull prices not full established.  Water
usage and availability continues to be a heavy topic throughout California rice
country.  Depending on the water outcome, the market could move either direction.
Majority of the conventional shipping methods on the California coasts for importing
and exporting good have been at a standstill, however a tentative agreement was
reached this past weekend to resume work.  Hopefully this agreement will allow rice
millers and foodservices to resume business as normal.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Feb 20th, Mar closed .01 lower at 10.79; May
closed .01 higher at 11.04; Jly closed .015 higher at 11.29.  US dollar index on
Friday settled at 94.26.
