Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 22/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over southwest Victoria will move eastwards across the State today as an associated cold front crosses Tasmania. The trough will stall over the northeast tonight and will remain in the vicinity through until Thursday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight late today, then will drift eastwards passing to the south of Tasmania late Tuesday to reach the Tasman Sea by Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms extending from the west and becoming more widespread over north central and eastern districts this afternoon before contracting eastwards this evening. Warm to hot across most districts with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds, but cooler southwest to southerly winds over the southwest gradually extending across the State, but stalling over the northeast tonight.Fire Danger -  Very high in the northwest, high elsewhere.Tuesday 24 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms easing to isolated showers in the east. Isolated showers elsewhere over Gippsland and extending to exposed parts of the central coast in the evening. Cool in the south and warm in the north with a moderate to fresh and gusty south to southeasterly wind.Wednesday 25 FebruaryIsolated showers over the eastern half of the State and the chance of a thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Mild in the south and warm in the north with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 26 FebruarySlight chance of a shower about the exposed parts of the coast and in the far northeast, otherwise a fine and partly cloudy day. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Moderate southwest winds, fresh at times about the east coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
