Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 21/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system (Ex-Tropical Cyclone Marcia), located near the southeast Queensland coast is moving southeast and weakening. Late on Saturday the low is expected to be located just off the southeast coast of Queensland, with a trough near to the New South Wales coast. The low is then expected to move slowly east on Sunday. Heavy rain over northeast New South Wales is expected to ease tonight and early Sunday as the low moves east across the northern Tasman Sea. A weak ridge extends across southern New South Wales associated with a high pressure system near New Zealand.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayVery high chance of rain over the northeast, heavy at times. Slight chance of a thunderstorm in the northeast. Medium to high chance of showers over the remainder of the coast, ranges and western slopes. Chance of afternoon thunderstorms over the central west and the southeast. Fine in the far west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, strong in the northeast.Sunday 22 FebruaryVery high chance of showers or rain on the north coast and adjacent ranges, easing during the day. Heavy at times on the coast at first. Slight to medium chance of showers on the central coast and ranges. Slight chance of showers in the far southwest. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 23 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the south with the chance of thunderstorms near the Victorian border. Medium to high chance of showers on the central coast and ranges increasing to a very high chance on the north coast with the chance of thunderstorms. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 24 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the east increasing to a high chance near the coast. Mostly sunny in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 25 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers from the slopes and plains through to the coast, increasing to a high chance in the southeast. Mostly sunny in the west. Southwesterly winds in the west. Southeast to northeast winds in the east.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
