MELBOURNE - Feb 20/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure in the far west will move slowly east across the state over the weekend and Monday. A high pressure system will develop to the south of the Bight later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayGenerally dry apart from the slight chance of afternoon and evening showers over parts of the southern agricultural area, with the chance of thunder over Eyre Peninsula. The chance of an afternoon thundery shower about the Gammon Ranges. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change in the far west.Sunday 22 FebruarySlight chance of showers and thunderstorms over areas south of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill, chiefly in the afternoon and evening. Hot to very hot ahead of a milder southerly change in the west extending over southern coasts in the afternoon and evening.Monday 23 FebruarySlight chance of showers about the coastal areas during the morning clearing by midday. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over the between the lines Tarcoola to Renmark and Ernabella to Broken Hill chiefly in the afternoon and evening. Chance of patchy rain developing in the far northwest of the State. Milder over the agricultural area and in the west with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, but remaining hot to very hot further north with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 24 February The chance of patchy rain in the far northwest of the State, fine elsewhere. Mild to warm about the coasts grading to hot to very hot in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, possibly reaching 2 to 5 mm with the patchy rain in the far northwest and with the thunderstorms. Wednesday until FridaySlight chance of isolated showers in the far west of the State slowly extending eastwards to be over most of the State by Friday.
