MELBOURNE - Feb 20/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the south Tasman Sea will be reinforced on Saturday by another high passing south of Tasmania. A low pressure trough will approach southwestern Victoria on Sunday night before linking with a cold front to the south and crossing the remainder of the State during Monday. Another high pressure system will develop south of the Bight on Monday night before moving towards Tasmania on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayThe chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms over the central and eastern ranges this evening. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds and weakening coastal sea breezes.Saturday 21 FebruaryFine apart from early drizzle near the coast and isolated afternoon showers about the central ranges. Generally warm to hot with light northerly winds inland, but a little milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger - Generally high to very high.Sunday 22 FebruaryFine apart from late thundery showers in the southwest. A warm to hot day with a moderate to locally fresh northerly wind.Monday 23 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms contracting to the east. Warm to hot in the north and east but a milder southwesterly change extending from the southwest during the day to affect most areas except for the far northeast.Tuesday 24 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east and near the coast. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms about the eastern ranges.
