Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 20/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the west-northwest and is directing moist northeasterly winds into a weak low pressure trough over inland New South Wales while Tropical Cyclone Marcia is moving south and associated cloud band is bringing heavy rain to the northeast of the state. The rain is expected to ease gradually during Saturday as a low (remains of the Cyclone) moves east across the northern Tasman Sea and weakens.
Forecast for the rest of FridayPartly cloudy in the far southwest. Rain about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, with heavy falls likely. Slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, strengthening on the north coast.Saturday 21 FebruaryRain on the northern coast and adjacent ranges, with heavy falls possible. Slight to medium chance of showers on the central coast and ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, strong in the northeast.Sunday 22 FebruaryVery high chance of showers or rain on the north coast and adjacent ranges and slight to medium chance of showers on the central coast and ranges. Slight chance of showers in the far southwest. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 23 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the south with the chance of thunderstorms near Victorian boarder. Medium to high chance of showers on the north and central coasts and ranges increasing to very high chance near the north coast with the chance of thunderstorms. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 24 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the east increasing to high chance near the coast. Partly cloudy in the west.
