MELBOURNE - Feb 19/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure is to the south of the State. A trough of low pressure will develop over far western parts of the State today then move slowly east over the weekend. A high pressure system will develop to the south of the Bight later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayDry apart from the chance of thundery showers in the far northeast of the North East Pastoral. Warm about southern coasts, hot to very hot over the remainder with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times in the west. Moderate afternoon coastal sea breezes.Saturday 21 FebruaryDry apart from the slight chance of afternoon and evening showers over parts of the southern agricultural area, with the chance of thunder over Eyre Peninsula. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change in the far west.Sunday 22 FebruarySlight chance of showers and thunderstorms over areas south of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill, chiefly in the afternoon and evening. Hot to very hot ahead of a milder southerly change in the west extending over southern coasts in the afternoon and evening.Monday 23 February Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Flinders and Pastoral districts, chiefly in the afternoon and evening. Milder over the agricultural area and in the west with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, but remaining hot to very hot further north with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5mm with thunderstorms. Tuesday until ThursdayThe slight chance of isolated showers in the far northwest extending slowly southeastwards to reach southern and western coasts and land areas west of about Ceduna to Ernabella on Thursday.
