MELBOURNE - Feb 17/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will linger over northeastern Victoria today before drifting towards western Victoria on Thursday, as a high pressure system moves from south of the Bight to the south Tasman Sea. The high will remain over the south Tasman Sea on Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers or areas of rain and the chance of thunderstorms across the Northern Central, Northeast and East Gippsland districts. Cloudy at first elsewhere in the south with drizzle patches clearing during the morning to a fine and partly cloudy afternoon. Fine and mainly sunny in the far west. A mild day in the south and east but warm north of the divide and rather humid in the east. Northerly winds over the far northeast, but moderate southeasterly winds elsewhere.Fire Danger - High in the north and west.Thursday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms extending to most districts. A warm and humid day with generally light northeasterly to southeasterly winds and milder afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 20 FebruaryIsolated showers possible over most districts and the chance of thunderstorms in the east. A warm day with light northeast to northerly winds tending southerly over the south and west during the afternoon and freshening about the coast.Saturday 21 FebruaryIsolated showers. The chance of thunderstorms in the east.
