MELBOURNE - Feb 16/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving, strong high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to northeastern New South Wales. This ridge is directing moist easterly winds into a low pressure trough over inland parts of the state producing unsettled conditions in most inland districts. Over the next few days little change in the synoptic pattern is expected. A low over the Coral Sea is expected to move towards southeast Queensland later in the week which is likely to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the northeast of New South Wales on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the west and southeast. Fine in the far southwest. Medium to high chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, tending south to southwesterly in the far south.Fire Danger - Very High: Northwest fire district.Wednesday 18 FebruaryMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the west and southeast. Fine in the far southwest. Medium to high chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 19 FebruaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the west. Medium to high chance of showers along the coast and ranges. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Friday 20 FebruaryVery high chance of rain over the north coast and ranges with heavy falls. Medium to high chance of showers along the central and southern coast and ranges. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the far west.
