MELBOURNE - Feb 15/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will move over eastern Victoria this morning. The trough will then linger over northeastern Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday then edge back to central Victoria on Thursday. A new high pressure system will build south of the Bight on Monday and Tuesday before moving slowly eastwards to pass just south of Tasmania late on Wednesday then over the southern Tasman Sea on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northwest in the morning and in the far east mainly in the afternoon. Morning drizzle patches in the southwest. Warm and mostly sunny in the north but milder and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to locally fresh south to southwest winds in western and central areas extending to Gippsland during the morning. Light to moderate northeasterly winds over the northeast.Fire Danger - High in the north.Tuesday 17 FebruaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the northeast ranges and local morning drizzle in the south. Mild and mostly cloudy in the south and warmer and generally sunny over the north. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 18 FebruaryMorning drizzle patches in the south. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. A mild day in the south but warm north of the divide. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Thursday 19 FebruaryScattered showers over central and eastern areas, mainly on and north of the divide with thunderstorms possible over the northeast. Local morning drizzle in the south.
