MELBOURNE - Feb 15/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand is drifting slowly east and weakening, while maintaining a ridge over much of New South Wales. A trough approaching from the west is expected to reach the far southwest of the state later today before stalling on Monday. This trough, assisted by a fairly humid airmass, is likely to promote unsettled conditions in many parts of New South Wales for several days. Forecast for the rest of SundayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms about the coast and ranges, mostly clearing during the evening. Fine in the west. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending generally light and variable inland.Monday 16 FebruaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms in the southeast, chiefly about the tablelands, possibly extending to central and northwestern areas during the afternoon. A shower or two about the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, tending south to southwesterly in the south.Fire Danger - Very High: Southern Riverina, North Western.Tuesday 17 FebruaryShowers and thunderstorms in a band from the southeast to the northwest.
