MELBOURNE - Feb 14/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system near New Zealand is slowly moving east and weakening maintaining a ridge to northeastern New South Wales, while a weak low pressure trough lies over the state's west. As the ridge weakens another trough associated with a cold front will move across the southwest of the state later today before stalling over the central parts on Monday. This trough assisted by moist airmass,likely to promote unsettled conditions in many parts of New South Wales for several days. Forecast for the rest of SundaySlight to medium chance of showers about the coast and ranges increasing ti high chance near the central and north coasts, the chance of thunderstorms. Mostly sunny and hot in the west. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending variable inland.Fire Danger - Very high: North Western, Lower Central West Plains.Monday 16 FebruaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms across most southern districts, chiefly about the tablelands, possibly extending in to central areas. A few showers about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny across the northern inland. Hot in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, tending south to southwesterly in the south.Tuesday 17 FebruaryShowers and thunderstorms in a band from the southeast to the northwest. The chance of showers about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and partly cloudy on the central coast, northern inland and southwest. Hot in the far west. Mostly southeast to northeasterly winds, tending south to southwesterly in the far south.Wednesday 18 FebruaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms in the southeast, and possibly through some central and northwest areas. Showers about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere.
