Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 13/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the south Tasman Sea will cross New Zealand during the weekend. A low pressure trough will develop over South Australia on Saturday before moving through western and central Victoria later on Sunday. The low pressure trough will clear the southeast during Monday but will linger near northeastern Victoria for the early part of next week. A new high pressure system will build south of the Bight on Monday and Tuesday before moving slowly eastwards.
Forecast for the rest of FridayHumid. Showers and thunderstorms, more frequent about the west and the ranges. Local heavy falls possible. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds near the coast. Generally light to moderate northwesterly winds inland tending west to southwesterly in the west.Saturday 14 FebruaryHumid with scattered showers and thunderstorms, more frequent over central and eastern districts. Locally heavy falls possible. Mild to warm in the south and hot in the north. Light to moderate northeasterly winds turning southwesterly from the west during the afternoon before tending east to northeasterly at night.Fire Danger -  High to Very High in the west.Sunday 15 FebruaryFine in the east. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the west during the afternoon. Very warm to hot with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler, moderate to fresh southwesterly over western and central areas later in the day.Monday 16 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms contracting to the northeast during the afternoon. Warm in the north, mild in the south. Moderate to locally fresh south to southwest winds, in western and central areas extending to Gippsland during the morning. Light to moderate northeasterly winds over the northeast.Tuesday 17 FebruaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms over the far east. Mild in the south and warmer over the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
