Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 13/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high centred southeast of Tasmania extends a ridge to the northwest, and is directing generally east to northeasterly winds along the New South Wales north coast. A weakening trough lies through the Illawarra coast. The high is expected to move very slowly over the southern Tasman Sea during the weekend and be centred over New Zealand early next week. A weak front will approach from the west late in the weekend, reaching the southwest of the state on Sunday and the far south coast on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers and possible thunderstorms along the coast and adjacent ranges and also about much of the inland. Possible locally heavy falls about the north coast. Fine and partly cloudy in the far northwest. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 14 FebruaryShowers with the chance of thunderstorms in southern and central parts, more likely in the southeast. Fine in the far west and northern inland. Hot in the west. East to northeasterly winds.Sunday 15 FebruaryShowers mostly about the coast, ranges and western slopes with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Mostly fine and hot to very hot in the west. Southeast to northeast winds with a late southwesterly change in the far southwest.Monday 16 FebruaryThe chance of showers about most of the state, more likely in the southeast. The chance of thunderstorms in the south and southwest. Fine and mostly sunny in the far northern inland. Mostly southeast to northeasterly winds, south to southwesterly in the western inland with a late southerly change on the south coast.Tuesday 17 FebruaryMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in a band from the southeast to the northwest, with a medium chance of showers in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy on the central coast, northern inland and southwest. Mostly southeast to northeasterly winds, south to southwesterly in the far south and southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
