Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 12/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will pass just south of Tasmania this evening to reach the south Tasman Sea on Friday and New Zealand during the weekend. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Saturday to join with a trough over South Australia, before entering Victoria on Sunday. The front will move across western and central areas of the State on Sunday and clear the northeast Monday morning. Meanwhile, a new high pressure system will build south of the Bight and extend a ridge to Bass Strait by Monday night.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers and drizzle over the southeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north, more extensive over the Northern Country and Northeast districts and extending further southwards into central districts during the evening. Heavy rain, hail and strong squalls possible with thunderstorms in the north. Fresh southeasterly winds in the south, generally light winds inland.Friday 13 FebruaryHumid with scattered showers and thunderstorms, more frequent about the southwest and along the ranges. Warm in the south with moderate to fresh easterly winds near the coast., hot in the north with east to northeasterly winds.Fire Danger -  Generally High.Saturday 14 FebruaryHumid with scattered showers and thunderstorms, more frequent over central and eastern districts. Warm in the south, hot in the north with east to northeasterly winds, moderate to fresh near the coast.Sunday 15 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing from the southwest and contracting to eastern districts during the day with a change. Very warm to hot with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler, moderate to fresh southwesterly over western and central areas during the day.Monday 16 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the north and east, contracting to the far northeast during the day. Fine in the southwest and clearing across western and central inland areas. Warm in the north, mild in the south. Moderate to locally fresh south to southwest winds, extending throughout the northeast during the morning.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
