MELBOURNE - Feb 12/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high centred near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast, while a low pressure trough lies over the state's west. A cold front is passing to the south as the ridge weakens, with a new high forecast to move across from the west in its wake. This next high is expected to remain slow-moving over the southern Tasman Sea during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayShowers about the coast and adjacent ranges, with thunderstorms about the north and central coasts and ranges. Showers and thunderstorms over the inland, chiefly in central and southern parts. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Friday 13 FebruaryShowers ad possible thunderstorms along the coast and adjacent ranges and also about much of the inland, mainly in the afternoon. Possible locally heavy falls about the north coast. Fine and partly cloudy in the far northwest. Hot day in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 14 FebruaryShowers in southern and central parts, more likely in the northeast. Chance of thunderstorms in the south, more likely in the southeast. Fine in the far northwest. Hot in the west. East to northeasterly winds.Sunday 15 FebruaryShowers mostly about the coast and ranges with the chance of thunderstorms. Mostly fine and hot to very hot in the west. Southeast to northeast winds.Monday 16 FebruaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms about most of the state, more likely on the southern and central ranges. Fine and mostly sunny in the far northern inland.
