Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 11/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over central Victoria will move eastwards on Wednesday evening as it links with a weak cold front crossing Bass Strait and Tasmania. Another high pressure system will pass just to the south of Tasmania on Thursday and move over the south Tasman Sea on Friday then pass slowly to the south of New Zealand on the weekend. A cold front is expected to cross Bight waters on Saturday, joining with a trough over South Australia before entering Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, over central and eastern districts, particularly about the Gippsland ranges. Fine elsewhere apart from the chance of light showers over the southwest. Hazy in the south. Milder, fresh southerly winds extending throughout during the evening.Thursday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers over the southeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north, becoming more extensive over the northeast during the afternoon, and extending a little further southwards into central districts during the late afternoon and evening. Mild in the south with southeasterly winds, but warm over the north with generally light winds.Fire Danger -  Generally High.Friday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms. Humid. Warm in the south, hot in the north with east to northeasterly winds, moderate to fresh near the coast.Saturday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms. Humid. Warm in the south, hot in the north with east to northeasterly winds, moderate to fresh near the coast.Sunday 15 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east. Isolated showers developing over the southwest and central district, otherwise fine. Warm in the south, hot in the north with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler, moderate to fresh southwesterly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
