MELBOURNE - Feb 10/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high centred near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast, while a low pressure trough lies over the state's west. A cold front will to pass to the south later today and Thursday as the ridge weakens, with a new high forecast to move across from the west in it's wake. This next high is expected to remain slow-moving over the southern Tasman Sea during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers on the northern coast and adjacent ranges, possible extending to western slopes during the afternoon. The chance of morning showers near the southern and central coast. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing through parts of the northern inland, central west, and southern tablelands. Hot and mostly sunny in the far west. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south. Generally northeast to northwesterly winds inland, tending southerly in the far west.Fire Danger - Very High: Southern Riverina fire area.Thursday 12 FebruaryShowers about the coast and adjacent ranges. Showers and possible thunderstorms developing over the southern and central inland, chiefly in the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy across the northern inland. Hot day in the far west.
