MELBOURNE - Feb 10/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system in the south Tasman Sea will move over New Zealand tonight. A low pressure trough over western Victoria will move eastwards again on Wednesday afternoon as it links with a weak cold front crossing Bass Strait and southern Victoria. Another high pressure system will pass just to the south of Tasmania on Thursday and move over the south Tasman Sea on Friday. The high will be slow moving near New Zealand on Saturday as a cold front moves across Bight waters. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated evening showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Light and variable winds inland and coastal seabreezes easing.Wednesday 11 FebruaryIsolated showers developing over most districts, apart from the northwest, with possible thunderstorms. Warm to hot northerly winds over central and eastern districts, but moderate to fresh southerly winds developing over the west then gradually extending throughout.Fire Danger - Very high.Thursday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers over the southeast. Possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the north. Mild in the south with southeasterly winds, but warm to hot over the north with generally light winds.Friday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly about the ranges and in the south. Warm in the south, hot in the north with humid east to northeasterly winds, moderate to fresh near the coast.Saturday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in most districts.
