MELBOURNE - Feb 9/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast, while a trough lies over the state's west. A cold front is expected to pass to the south during Wednesday and Thursday as the high loses influence, although a new high will follow in it's wake, re-establishing a ridge over much of New South Wales towards the end of the week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayShowers along the coast and adjacent ranges, more frequent on the north coast, and clearing from the southern and central coasts later in the day. The chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms over the northern and central inland, as well as the southern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot day in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, tending southerly in the far west.Fire Danger - Very High: North Western Fire AreaWednesday 11 FebruarySlight to medium chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the southern ranges and parts of the inland. Medium chance of showers near the coast and on adjacent ranges increasing to a high chance on the north coast with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
