MELBOURNE - Feb 8/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will pass across Tasmania today as a low pressure trough remains near northeastern Victoria. The high will cross the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as the trough drifts towards central northern Victoria. The trough will deepen on Wednesday and later contract eastwards as a cold front crosses Tasmania. Another high pressure system will pass just to the south of Tasmania on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayCloudy with scattered showers or drizzle over Gippsland, mostly during the morning. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mild to warm in the south but remaining warm to hot in the north. Generally moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds tending light east to northeasterly over the northeast.Fire Danger - Generally high to very high.Tuesday 10 FebruaryFine apart from patchy morning drizzle about Wilsons Promontory and the Otway ranges and isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Hot and sunny in the north and west, milder and partly cloudy over the southeast and near the coast. Light southeast to northeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 11 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south and east. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the east. Warm to hot northerly winds over central and eastern districts, but moderate to fresh southerly winds developing over the west then gradually extending throughout.Thursday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers or drizzle over the southeast. Possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the north.
