MELBOURNE - Feb 8/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the north coast of New South Wales. A cold front crossing the Tasman Sea has brought southerly winds to much of the coast while another high centre is located to the west of Tasmania. This high should move to the southern Tasman Sea today where it will drift slowly east over the next day or two. A trough of low pressure over the west of the state will remain for several days. The hot air mass is likely to persist over western parts for many days. Forecast for the rest of MondayMedium chance of showers along much of the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot over the northern and central inland. Southeast to northeasterly winds in the north, and southwest to southeasterly winds in the south.Fire Danger - Very High: Northern Slopes, North Western and Lower Central West Plains fire districts.Tuesday 10 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers on the coast and ranges, increasing to a high chance on the north coast. Slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the northwest. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Remaining hot in the west. Southeast to northeast winds.Wednesday 11 FebruarySlight to medium chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the southern ranges and parts of the inland. Medium chance of showers on the coast and ranges increasing to a high chance on the north coast. Possible thunderstorms on the north coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Remaining hot in the west. Southeast to northeast winds.Thursday 12 FebruaryMedium chance of showers over much of the state, decreasing to a slight chance in the northwest. Chance of thunderstorms on the north coast and also over the central and southern inland. Remaining hot in the west.
