Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 7/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over far southwestern will cross most remaining districts overnight and during Sunday, before stalling over the northeast as the next high pressure system crosses waters south of the Bight. The high will pass across Tasmania on Monday as the trough remains over northeast Victoria. The high will cross the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as the trough drifts towards central northern Victoria. The trough will deepen on Wednesday and later contract eastwards as a cold front crosses Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms clearing from the west this evening. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the far west.Sunday 8 FebruaryMostly fine. Patchy drizzle near the western coast during the morning and isolated showers and thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges. Hot and sunny in the north but a milder and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds extending to most districts.Fire Danger -  High to very high reaching severe in the northeast.Monday 9 FebruaryScattered showers or drizzle in Gippsland, mostly during the morning. Fine elsewhere. Mostly sunny across the north and west, cloudy periods elsewhere. Mild to warm in the south but remaining hot in the north. Generally moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds tending light east to northeasterly over the northeast.Tuesday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers or drizzle about East Gippsland and the Otway ranges, mainly during the morning. Fine elsewhere. Hot and sunny in the north and west, milder and partly cloudy over the southeast and near the coast. Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds in the south tending light southeast to northeasterly across the north.Wednesday 11 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south and east. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the east. Mild and partly cloudy in the south, but hot and generally sunny across the north. Northerly winds at first in the east, but southerly winds elsewhere gradually extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
