MELBOURNE - Feb 6/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system just east of Tasmania will weaken as it crosses the Tasman Sea today. . A low pressure trough will enter the southwest of Victoria later today before crossing most of the State on Sunday. The trough will remain over the northeast of the State on Monday and Tuesday. The next high pressure centre will cross waters south of the Bight on Sunday before tracking over Tasmania on Monday and the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over western districts during the morning before extending across remaining districts during the afternoon. A warm to hot day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the west later.Fire Danger - High to Very High.Sunday 8 FebruaryMostly fine with just some isolated light morning showers or drizzle near the western coast and afternoon showers possible near the far eastern ranges. Hot and sunny in the north but a milder, moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change extending through most districts in the afternoon and evening.Monday 9 FebruaryScattered showers or drizzle in Gippsland, mostly during the morning. Fine elsewhere. Mostly sunny across the north and west, cloudy periods elsewhere. Mild to warm in the south but remaining hot in the north. Generally moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds tending light east to northeasterly over the northeast.Tuesday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers or drizzle about East Gippsland and the Otway ranges, mainly during the morning. Fine elsewhere. Hot and sunny in the north and west, milder and partly cloudy over the southeast and near the coast.
