MELBOURNE - Feb 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system south of the Bight will move across Tasmania late today before moving just to the east of Victoria on Friday and Saturday. A weak low pressure trough will enter the southwest of Victoria on Saturday night then cross the remainder of southern Victoria on Sunday. A new high pressure centre will quickly develop to the west of Tasmania on Sunday night. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated early morning showers in East Gippsland, otherwise fine and mostly sunny. Mild to warm in the south, grading to very warm in the northwest. Moderate to fresh southeast to easterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally High.Friday 6 FebruaryFine. A warm to hot and mostly sunny day with a light to moderate north to northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 7 FebruaryFine apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the southwest in the afternoon and evening. A warm to hot day with a light to moderate northerly wind ahead of a southwesterly change in the southwest later.Sunday 8 FebruaryDry apart from the chance of early showers about the southwest coast.
