MELBOURNE - Feb 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system is located south of the Bight and is directing a south to southwesterly airstream across the State. A cold front will move across Bass Strait during Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The high will then move across Tasmania late on Thursday before moving just to the east of Victoria on Friday and Saturday. A weak low pressure trough will enter the southwest of the State later on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 4 FebruaryCool to mild and partly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, contracting to the east in the afternoon. Fine, warm and generally sunny over the northern plains. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally HighThursday 5 FebruaryIsolated morning showers in East Gippsland, otherwise fine. Mild to warm in the south, grading to very warm in the northwest. Moderate to fresh southeast to easterly winds.Friday 6 FebruaryFine. A warm to very warm day with a light to moderate east to northeasterly wind, fresh near the coast.Saturday 7 FebruaryFine apart from the chance of isolated showers in the southwest later.
