LITTLE ROCK - Feb 2/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long grain milled rice prices mostly steady, instances 1.75 lower; medium grain milled rice prices steady. Parboiled and Brewers rice steady to 1.00 lower; Second heads mostly steady, instances 5.00 lower. Rice by-products: rice bran steady to 15.00 lower, mostly 5.00 to 10.00 lower; Millfeed steady to 10.00 lower, mostly 5.00 lower; Ground rice hulls steady to 5.00 lower. Majority of contacts dealing with regular customer business with very little additional new customer business. Transportation issues continue to be a hot topic both domestic and exports. Rough rice bids to farmers continue to be lower however most farmers are opting out of current bids. In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady to weak; short grain milled rice prices mostly steady on very limited available sales. Second heads and Brewers steady. Rice by-products: rice bran and hull prices firm with very limited supply. Contacts have made remarks on slow to steady business as most continue to fill needs of regular customers. West Coast port shipping issues continue to disrupt exports. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Jan 30th, Mar closed .29 lower at 10.57; May closed .29 lower at 10.84; Jly closed .285 lower at 11.07. US dollar index on Friday settled at 94.66.
