MELBOURNE - Feb 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system is located south of the Bight and is directing a south to southwesterly airstream across the State. The high will be slow moving until the middle of the week. A cold front will move across Bass Strait during Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The high will then move across Tasmania late on Thursday before moving to the east of Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine after isolated showers clear in Gippsland this evening. Generally moderate to fresh southerly winds.Tuesday 3 FebruaryFine. Cool to mild and with morning cloud in the south. Mild to warm and generally sunny over the northern plains. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally High.Wednesday 4 FebruaryCool to mild and partly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, contracting to the east in the afternoon. Fine, warm and generally sunny over the northern plains. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 5 FebruaryIsolated morning showers in East Gippsland, otherwise fine. Mild to warm in the south, grading to very warm in the northwest. Moderate to fresh southeast to easterly winds.Friday 6 FebruaryFine.
