Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 31/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system lies over the southwestern Tasman Sea. On Sunday the low will move east and weaken as a high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge to New South Wales north coast. The coastal ridge will strengthen during Monday and Tuesday and a low pressure trough will develop over the northeastern inland. The high is expected to be position east of Tasmania on Friday maintaining the ridge to the north.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayVery high chance of showers in the far northeast with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon in northern coastal districts. Slight to medium chance of showers in the southeast. Mostly clear elsewhere. Northerly winds in the far northeast. Southeast to southwesterly winds elsewhere, fresh on the southern coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the southern half of the coast.Sunday 1 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers along the coast and on adjacent ranges. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms near the central coast and adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny in the west. West to southwesterly winds tending southeasterly near the coast.Monday 2 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the west and in the southeastern inland. High chance of showers on the north coast and ranges, slight to medium elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. South to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 3 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the northern inland with the chance of thunderstorms. Medium to high chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges and slight chance on the central coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 4 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers in the northeast and on the southern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
