Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 30/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deepening low in the Tasman Sea will combine with a ridge over southern Australia to push warm to hot, and dry air across Queensland and towards the east coast. Moist air will persist across the northern tropics over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and clear over most of the state. Mainly fine about the southeast though with the slight chance of a shower. A slight to moderate chance of a shower or storm about the eastern tropics and over Cape York Peninsula. Mainly light winds across the state.Saturday 31 JanuaryFine, sunny and warm to hot across most of the state. A medium chance of showers and storms over the far northern tropics and the slight chance of some showers about the central coast.Fire Danger - Very high over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt.Sunday 1 FebruaryA ridge of high pressure over southern Australia should maintain fine conditions and a flow of hot, dry air across most of Queensland. Showers and storms over the far north where humidity levels will be higher.Monday 2 FebruaryA high over the Great Australian Bight will extend a ridge up Queensland's east coast, and the associated onshore wind flow should combine with an upper trough over the southwest of the state to produce the mainly moderate chance of showers and storms over the eastern districts and the central interior. Fine though partly cloudy over the western interior and southern interior, and showers and storms in more humid air over the far north.Tuesday 3 FebruaryAn upper level low may form within the upper trough over the southern interior, and the system should drag moisture inland, leading to at least a moderate chance of showers and storms over much of the state. Fine and mostly sunny in drier air over the western interior.Wednesday until FridayThe upper level low should persist over the interior, allowing showers and storms to continue over the central interior and southern interior in the middle of the week, before easing later in the week as humidity levels decrease across the interior. Showers and storms about the northern tropics, and showers, winds and swells possibly increasing about the southeast of the state as at least a tropical low approaches, though the uncertainty in this scenario is still high at this stage. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Saturday.Product IDQ10700
