MELBOURNE - Jan 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad surface trough over the interior of Queensland will remain slow moving. A ridge will build along the southern coast from Monday. A large scale upper trough will develop over southern inland Queensland on Tuesday, with the inland surface trough deepening in response. Forecast for the rest of SundayA medium to high chance of showers and storms over the northern and central areas of the state. A slight to medium chance of showers and and storms over remaining areas, though fine and mostly clear in the far southwest. Moderate north to northwesterly winds, tending southwest to southeasterly over southern areas.Monday 26 JanuaryA medium to high chance of showers and storms over the east of the state and throughout the tropics. A slight chance of showers and storms about the southern interior. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Moderate north to northwesterly winds, tending southwest to southeasterly over southern areas.Tuesday 27 JanuaryA stronger upper trough is likely to move northeastwards towards southwestern Queensland, while a surface trough will continue to extend from the southeast Gulf country to the Warrego. A moderate to high chance of showers and thunderstorms east of this trough. Remaining fine and mostly sunny in the west.Wednesday 28 JanuaryThe upper trough will move slowly east, while surface trough will continue to extend from the southeast Gulf country to the Warrego. A moderate to high chance of showers and thunderstorms east of this trough. Remaining fine and mostly sunny in the west.Thursday 29 JanuaryThe upper trough will shift towards the northeast, while surface trough will continue to extend from the southeast Gulf country to the Warrego. A moderate to high chance of showers and thunderstorms east of this trough. Remaining fine and mostly sunny in the west.Friday until SundayShowers and thunderstorms should continue over the eastern half of the state in moist and unstable conditions and with the assistance of the upper level trough.
