MELBOURNE - Jan 23/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An upper air disturbance over southeast Queensland is expected to weaken overnight. A broad low pressure trough extends from northern Australia into western New South Wales. During Saturday and Sunday the trough will move to the northeast as a cold front passes across the south of the state. Behind the front a high pressure system will move towards Tasmania on Monday extending a ridge to the north coast. The trough is then expected to move back over the western parts of the state. Forecast for the rest of FridayMedium chance of showers in eastern districts grading to a very high chance of rain in the far northeast. Locally heavy falls in the northeast, easing later. Isolated thunderstorms in the east. East to northeasterly winds, becoming north to northwesterly across the southern inland.Saturday 24 JanuarySlight to medium chance of showers increasing to high over much of the central inland and the southeast. Thunderstorms mostly over the northwest and southeast, possibly severe. East to northeasterly winds turning southwesterly in the southwest later.Sunday 25 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers in the southeast and northern parts with isolated thunderstorms. Partly cloudy in the far west. Light northeast to northwest winds ahead of a southwest to southerly change extending from the southwest.Monday 26 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers along the coast and over the northeast. Chance of thunderstorms over the northeast. Fine in the southwest. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 27 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers along the coast and over the northeast. Chance of thunderstorms over the northern inland. Fine in the southwest.
